Day 06
Today’s passage
Matthew 4:1-11
Experience
Imagine you’re walking in the desert. You’ve been there for days, and you aren’t sure where you are anymore. It’s literally so hot that you can see the heat radiating off the sand. You’re sweating non-stop and all you want is a drink of water. Or a bucketful of water. Actually, make that ten bucketfuls of water. Then, off in the distance, you see a man walking toward you. You rub your eyes; is the heat making you go crazy? No, that’s definitely a man. He walks up to you, smiles, and holds out a glass of perfectly delicious cold water. You desperately reach out for it. “Just a second,” he says, “There’s something I want from you first…”
Satan is a real trickster, isn’t he? When Jesus has been fasting in the desert for forty days, Satan appeared to Jesus and offered Him all kinds of earthly things that Jesus, in His weakened state, could have easily accepted. But Jesus didn’t give in. Instead, Jesus combated Satan’s temptations with God’s truth. Each time Satan tempted Him, Jesus defended Himself with the words of His Father.
Jesus lived a holy life even when faced with a constant barrage of temptation. Jesus was God, and He maintained His holiness in the real world, not as a cold doctrine removed from the day-to-day realities of life. His holiness was put to the ultimate test and proved to be real. How does your holiness stand up beneath temptation?

Temptation gets almost everybody. Everyone needs to be careful of what they do because Satan will try to get to you anyway he can. Christians especially need to be careful because we LOVE God and he loves us so Satan is gonna try to tempt us any way he can.
This has been a very good first 6 days of the 40 days. We have a lot more time to get closer to GOD. Everyone try to keep it up, don’t get tempted like Satan wants you to!! Be STRONG, and GOD is going to help you through everyday so you don’t get tempted to do things that you probably shouldn’t do!!
i agree with rachel!
Temptation is tough to resist sometimes and you just need to train yourself to walk away from it. Good point Rachel
Man, I wish it was as easy for us as it was for Jesus to resist temptation! But like Wes said, we do have to train ourselves, although it can be really hard sometimes!
