Day 15
Today’s passage
Luke 7:1-10
Experience
Only twice in the New Testament is it recorded that Jesus was amazed. He was amazed by the unbelief of the people in His hometown of Nazareth (Mark 6:4-6), and He was amazed by the faith of the centurion in today’s reading. Obviously, few things could amaze Jesus, but the centurion’s faith did.
Let’s take a look at what we know about this centurion—a Roman officer in charge of one hundred soldiers. One, he had a deep love and concern for his servant. Two, he was probably not a follower of Jesus. Yet he knew enough about Jesus to trust His word without having to see Jesus in action, meaning Jesus’ words were enough for him. And three, the centurion was humble; he knew who he was, and he knew who Jesus was. The centurion’s faith in Jesus caused him to trust Jesus completely. The result of his faith was that his servant was healed.
The centurion acted out exactly what God also desires from us, that we would know Him and trust Him completely, even if we don’t feel like we see Him in action. Mature faith says exactly what the centurion said: “Just say the word. You don’t even have to physically be here for me to feel You. I know who You are, and I know You have authority over all.”

I really don’t understand what this devo is saying.
To me i think it is to believe and HIM and trust him and all that stuff, but this one just doesn’t really make sense to me.
Rachel,
The point of today’s devo is simply that we need faith. Do you remember last night when we were talking about how difficult it can be to praise God when something bad happens? It can feel like God isn’t even there. But true faith in Christ means having faith even if we don’t see Him working in our lives. The centurion believed that Jesus could heal his servant without even being there; that’s the kind of faith that God asks of us. Does that make more sense?
Im up there with Rachel, not getting this one. ?????
I was there last night, and was one of those kids who said maybe and kinda to when you asked, can you hang out with god? or can you praise god even when something bad happens? I think i will always stuggle with the fact that god isnt here in a physical presents. But i do agree with this devo to where you always need faith and that god will always be there no matter what!
that roman guy suprised me because most roman soldiers hated jesus
