Cincinnati Day 3- Pete Rose
Today we were introduced to our neighborhood “buddies”. We spent the day chasing around our buddies, listening to a story about stripeless zebras, and making puzzle pieces. All in all I think the kids are just one more reason I thank God for the opportunity to serve. I hope His love is spread through the shouts of “No!” and “Stop!” as we try to refocus their wandering attentions.
The next group spent the day painting the porch of an elderly neighborhood lady. This shows that even the most trivial of tasks can be used to promote His love.
Last activity of the work day was clearing branches out af a woman’s back yard. Helping the elderly; basically explains itself.
After all children, branches, porches and meals were accounted for, we moved on to the Cincinnati Reds game, and most importantly, Pete Rose! Eight and a half innings of pure entertainment (mostly in the form of Garrett Dorsett). Sadly, we did not see the outcome (Go Nats!). But we did finally did get to answer Andy’s burning question, “What is a Strasburg?”
Meanwhile, in the ongoing Joey vs. Caleb photo-war, Alec, Jeremy, Josh P. and I took a tiny excursion around the neighborhood and to the park, while Joey was asleep in her comfy little bed.
Good-night, North Carolina.
